Hi everyone...Happy Spring!

Today I'm joining in Canada Inks Up! Team Blog Hop and we're showcasing 'Anything but a Card'. Here's what I came up with, a box (and a couple of cards and a couple of bookmarks…)!  Hope you like it!

This sweet little stationary box was so much fun to make!  I found the box idea in my stash of fun things to make and it was dated a couple of years ago from a blog called Intatwyne Designs.  Such a cute idea for your desk or to give to a friend.

I made mine into a card holder, with a spot for my pens and a couple of book marks too.  The patterned paper is from a One Sheet Wonder I stamped and I used Black Memento Ink on White Cardstock with my favourite stamp set ‘Flowing Flowers’. Others stamp sets used for my one sheet wonder and the cards were from Ranunculus Romance, Very Versailles, Artistically Inked, and one that I think is so overlooked…the Stitched stamp set.  This set is lovely for adding an interesting border! I shaped and layered the flower to give it some dimension and make it the focal point. The leaves are hand cut. 

The box holds about 4 cards and envelopes and it’s so nice to have a few cards ready to pop in the mail when you need one.  

I added a clothespin too, coloured it with the same ink and Basic Black marker pen.  The flowers on the bookmark, clothespin and front detail on the box are handmade, randomly cut circles, then cut into spirals. Once rolled, I smashed them slightly to flatten them!  So easy and so much fun to make.  I have a tutorial on my blog here showing how I made the flowers.  The flowers on my box didn't flatten too much because I didn't wet the cardstock first, I wanted a more rigid flower.

The leaves are hand cut, I scored a 1” piece of Old Olive cardstock at 1/2” then folded it and hand cut various sizes of leaves.  The tags are from the Tailor Made Tags dies and I cut both the background and my stamped design using the largest size then trimmed the stamped black & white design on the stitched line of the die.

The box measurements are: 11” x 7 1/2”

Score on the 11” side at 5 1/2” and 7”

Turn and score at 1” on each side

Make two small boxes that measure:

4 1/4” x 8”

Score on the 8” side at 3” and 4”

Turn and score at 1“ on each side

Burnish well on all the score lines and use a strong adhesive to adhere. 

I angled the sides from corner to corner with scissors to give it a nice clean look. The white cardstock is my working template to make sure I’ve worked out any mistakes before I cut my good cardstock! 

Glue these with Tombo as it gives a bit of wiggle room!

Belcarra Park - one of my favourite places!

 Hi everyone!  

Welcome to my little corner of the world!  Today I’m sharing a few pictures to whisk you away to beautiful Belcarra Park.  This amazing park is minutes away from our house and no matter what season or what the weather is like it’s always gorgeous! 

Belcarra Park was officially renamed in October 2021 to təmtəmíxʷtən/Belcarra Regional Park to recognize the ancestral home of the Tsleil-Waututh Nation.  It is the largest of their ancestral villages and it means “ the biggest place for all the people” Full article here from CBC News.

It’s a magical place to visit and we like to walk and picnic here as much as we can!

Welcome Spring - Canada Inks Up Blog Hop!

Today’s card showcases one of my favourite things about Spring…dandelions! I know dandelions are not what you want in your lawn (me either) but I love them!  I love the bright happy yellow clusters of flowers and when they go to seed, all those beautiful little puffy seedlings blow here and there in the wind! 

We always try to catch one of the seed puffs because we were told as children, if you could catch one you can make a wish then let it fly off again taking your wish with it!  Pure magic! 

Today I’m joining the Canada Inks Up Blog Hop and we’re all sharing a card for Spring. Mine is a shabby chic vintage card featuring a fluffy dandelion.

The art panel is stamped randomly with images from Garden Wishes, the script from Ranunculus Romance and the vine from Very Versailles. The colours are Crushed Curry, Old Olive and Crumb Cake inks.  I made the dandelion by layering the 3 flower dies in that set, first cutting into each petal, then sponging and shaping with a stylus to make them curl.

💕 Hello again, I'm back! 💕

Oh my goodness, it's been over 5 years since I posted to my blog!  I've thought of getting back to it but I just haven't dedicated the time! Life gets so busy! 

I've missed writing and sharing my creations and my random crazy thoughts here! I am so humbled that I still have so many subscribers and I want to thank each and every one of you for waiting for me to come back!  

With the world so upside down these past 2 years, I love to tuck into my craft room to put the worries aside!  I’ve got lots of things to share with you and I’ve even learned how to do short videos!

Here's a couple of cards for you, I hope you enjoy them!!  I made the cards using the stamp set called Flowing Flowers, it’s my current fave!  The colours are Magenta Madness, Granny Apple Green and Sahara Sand. The technique is One Sheet Wonder, so much fun and so addicting!

Cutest little chickie ever!

Hi everyone!

I have such a cute card to share with you today and another one of my Seed Packet Templates (see below) for you to download.  I really had fun making this card and decided to make this little chickie waving a get well flag.

The little chick is from the 2016 Sale-a-bration catalogue and it's free with a $60 (Cdn) order.  The stamp set is called Honeycomb Happiness and it's just adorable...love, love, love it!

I stamped the baby chick with Black Stazon on watercolour paper, then I painted him with Crushed Curry using my aqua painter.  I totally painted outside the lines (because I love to and I can!) and then  carefully cut him out. I did feel bad cutting off his feet but I gave him a little nest of slivered Crumb Cake that I made by cutting fine strips, then scrumpled them up, creating the perfect little nest.

I cut the pieces for the sentiment and outlined them with my black marker using the wide tip on it's side and the banner was cut using the little banner punch.  I added the black dots with the fine tip of the same black marker. The flag pole is a narrow strip of the yellow cardstock outlined in black as well.

The sentiment is from the Greatest Greetings stamp set and I altered my stamp a bit, I can't think of when I would say 'get well sooner' so I carefully cut off the last two letters so my stamp now says 'get well soon' which works better for me!  I love the font in this greeting set...it just looks so cheerful!

Isn't this such a cute little baby chick!  Here's a close up of him, I coloured his beak with Tangerine Tango marker and added a little black to his eyes.  I just can't get enough of this little guy!

The Sky is the Limit!

Hi everyone!

I have another quick card to share with you today.  I inked up the World Traveler embossing folder with Island Indigo ink, placed my card layer inside and ran it through my Big Shot.

Then I used a sponge dauber and Crumb Cake ink to rub on the continents and with a little of Island Indigo residue, the colour turned a pretty shade of green.  I love it when surprises happen! Next, I stamped the plane in Black Memento Ink and fussy cut it out.

I added some silver cording to the back of the plane on each side and then to the center of the sentiment so that it looks like the plane is flying a Happy Birthday banner.

Below is a close up of the propeller I made.  I covered a scrap of cardstock with tin foil (using double sided sticky tape) and cut out a circle using the smallest circle die. Then I cut into it so that it looks like a propeller...lol...well it sort of looks like a propeller! I attached the propeller to the plane with a small brad.  

To finish, I distressed the art piece layer on all sides, layered it on a black panel, then to the Island Indigo card base.

This card was fun, easy and I got lots of ink on my fingers too! What could be better!

Vintage Hello

Hi peeps!

Here's a card I made with the free Sale-a-bration stamp set 'Hello'.  As soon as I saw this set I knew I had to pair it with Timeless Textures.  I love how this card turned out, it's done with Gold embossing, Very Vanilla and Crumb Cake...one of my favourite colour combinations.

I stamped the Hello and Birthday sentiment with VersaMark, then gold embossed it.  Next I added the Texture stamp along the bottom and side edges, (using VersaMark again) and gold embossed that as well.  I randomly stamped the rest of the images in Crumb Cake until I was happy with the effect.

Here's a close up of the little flower I added to the twine.  I love this little flower! I used the small flower die from Botanical Builder Framelits, sponged the flower with Crumb cake and added the Soft Suede center with a gold rhinestone to finish it.  I shaped the flower using a foam pad and a stylus.
